It's that time of year again. Winter's over, pretty much done with the samples of next winters product from Drop gloves and goggles, Signal boards and outerwear, Westbeach, Celsius and Mega Destroyer. Time to clean out the storage locker and break out the Sabre sunglasses and any other assorted streetwear from Animal, Ocean and Earth, Ezekiel and some vintage Split, NFA and Savier gear and set it up for consumers to spend their hard earned dough.

Details: This Saturday and Sunday April 17/18 at 16 Cook St., in Meaford Ontario (N4L 1G4 if you wanna mapquest it). Rain or shine we'll be here hooking people up with next years gear at wholesale prices.

How can a kid crack his board and still ride it all season? Local sponsored team riders put their boards through some serious punishment. From assorted rails to hips, half-pipes and booters. Yeah most of them have a "jump board" and a separate one for rails but who wants to take the time to grab a different board when the booter looks nice and there's a line up for your favourite rail line. It all starts with the core. With no finger joints (read; potential weak spots) and a combination of eastern grown Aspen (lightest and most flexible), Poplar (stiffer with greater density) and Maple (stiffest and densest; kinda like the hard rock maple in your skateboard), and alternating grains for greater strength and finally; specifically profiled cores for every length in every model. The Final Edit: Signal RV Tour

Okay, I guess I have slightly tipped the balance of the universe due to my erratic blogging so now I will attempt to set things straight. Before I was lost to the world of walking/talking/eating and breathing humanoids I last left off with a post of day two of the Signal RV tour. To be honest I had every intention of finishing off but with loftier goals in sight I hesitated while fantasizing about combining a series of photographs into a collage of the last days events. No collage and many weeks later there are apparently a few people who are waiting for the next chapter (sorry for skipping a beat with the post on Drop goggles). So here we go;

After the Thursday night throwdown at Lakeridge we headed out to a dark and secluded parking lot somewhere at the base of the Niagara Escarpment at Craigleith ski resort. Not to let the evening fade away too quickly we decided on a short detour to Ken Kell's famous "Barn" for a short visit and a beverage or two. There was some hope of riding the ramp but since Ken's recent aborted global sailing adventure (google Element Quest for details and a very harrowing story of rescue at sea) a lack of maintenance left it snow-less.

Instead Ken had a bonfire ready for us and a short tour of the almost museum like barn gave everyone plenty to talk about and remember. After most of the able bodies had gone their separate ways Kyle, Jordan and I managed to get the RV stuck in a snowbank around 2am. Some digging and a whole lotta luck got us out and on our way again.

We eventually arrived in the Craigleith parking lot, site of the next (actually same days) dealer Five and Dime demo. The following morning came way too soon but with the help of Tim Horton's and Rockstar Energy drinks we managed to get set up and put some of next years boards on the hill. See the below pictures for visual information.

We even found the energy to cook up some tailgate burgers with avocado (California style) and sent the next generation of shred out on the hill in the gorilla suit (after some modifications by Jordan) along with the blow horn (Keaghan is still talking about it, especially the two snowshoers he managed to spook with the horn). Special thanks to all the local riders who came out to as many events as possible to spread the Signal message; Pat Hrivnak, Mark Goodall (the night before catching a 4 am flight), Brad Hesson, Dave Eby, Jamie Bates, Sam Denena, Ben Poechman Brady Swartz and Brandon Morris.

After the demo tear down and a short scenic drive to the look out over the city, Kyle and Jordan took advantage of a real bathroom and shower before hitting the road for Minnesota. You can see photos of their crazy all night/day drive in the rain and wind on the signal website and on the Signal twitter page www.signalsnowboards.com Special thanks to Jordan and Kyle for stoking as many shreds and retailers alike and for taking a few extra minutes to drop Keaghan off at his sleep over in the RV before heading out on the road again.

Okay, so I had already written a masterpiece of witty banter about the second day of the RV tour when I lost it while looking for the Switch/Lakeridge edit Sean Madil has posted somewhere on Vimeo. Now you'll all have to settle for the abridged version. Special thanks to Matt Mincoff for a place to crash Wednesday night an showers for the crew Thursday morning. A great big FAIL to the pre-menstrual conservation authority officer who heavy-handedly pulled the plug on the tailgate barbeque at Glen Eden. Thursday had us all meet up at Lakeridge for the Thursday night Throwdown put together by Switch after some showings of next years product during the day. Below is the edit for your viewing pleasure.

Signal RV tailgate tour update #1.1

Okay, so it's been a week but I've been busy (excuses, excuses but I promise, no more whining about lack of sleep). After crossing the border in Buffalo Tuesday night and parking in Burlington, Signal team riders and RV troopers Kyle Grant and Jordan Parks stopped by Boredem for a brief visit with Matt and the Boredem family They then continued on to meet up with me at Corbett's while I showed Scott, Chris and Connor the new 2010 line. From there we paid a brief visit to Hustler and then stocked up on burgers and buns for some tailgating up at Glen Eden. There no better way to highlight the night than to link you to the Mustache-Media edit of the night from Will and Jay at Villains. Check it out.

It's official, the Signal/Rockstar tailgate tour will be coming to Ontario starting January 18th. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for updates as to when and where the RV will be parked in your neighbourhood. We'll be visiting shops handing out swag, doing a few on hill demos and shredding frozen liquid goodness at a hill near you.

So to get caught up lets jump forward to last weekend when the Frozen Rail Jam was held at Blue Mountain. Once again, thanks to the premature blogulators who got the news up on SBC as well as several other blogs and assorted websites within a matter of hours after the event (I think I was taking a nap). In a more realistic and timely fashion (hey it's booking season don't you know) please view the image below I captured from SBC and click the link for the original (it's only plaigarized if you submit it as your own!). Congratulations this time to Pat Hrivnak (again) for taking second in the open men's and Mark Goodall for taking 1st in the amateur men's.

First off, a few weeks ago was the Rome Premature Jibulation and several Vert Agencies riders were in attendance (don't ask me who, I can't keep track and I'm not a baby sitter!!!). Congratulation go out to Pat Hrivnak for placing second in the open men's and to Sam Denena for taking third in the women's (and for getting their pretty young faces on the SBC web page) . If you are here then some things by now are obvious. Vert Agencies now has a website. Let me correct that, Vert Agencies is now making use of it's website. The domain name has been empty for several years now and though John Lidstone had kindly offered to work on it recently, ultimately it was the forces of need (and snow sliding) that motivated Yuri Tereshyn to approach me and then in no time produce some results. Over the next few weeks there will be developments as the details get completed but in the meantime feel free to offer any constructive feedback and special shout outs to Yuri for all his hard work........will ship the product out next week.
